Stigma around "sleep training" holding you back?

Have you ever wanted to reach out for sleep support or even book in with Little Dreamers but worry about the stigma around ‘sleep training’ and the endless opinions online? Worried that the mention of it to other mums around you may get some eye rolls or comments of ‘how could you leave your baby to cry it out all night?’

Don’t ever feel embarrassed, guilty or ashamed for reaching out for sleep support! Often reaching out for help and support around sleep comes with the fear of being judged, questioned and feeling embarrassed;

‘My little one should be sleeping what am I doing wrong’ ‘

I should be able to get them to sleep myself’ ‘

‘No one else is reaching out for sleep support’

‘My baby must be broken’

‘It’ll impact our attachment and bond’

‘I know I’ve created a bad habit, it’s my fault’

It is ok to ask for help and support around sleep, and to also feel those waves of emotions around finally reaching out for help when you hit that pivotal point. It can feel so exciting yet daunting at the same time. But here at Little Dreamers we want you to feel empowered, to thrive as parents, to have time for you, to have better sleep and to find yourselves again as parents. Working with a Family Sleep and Wellness Coach is never something you should feel ashamed of, or that you are a failure for reaching out for help. We often hear from parents that they wish they had reached out sooner!

I have been there, I reached a point as a new mum where what I was doing with my little one was no longer working or sustainable. I was nervous to reach out for sleep support thinking to myself why can’t I just do this myself, why do I not understand my own baby enough to help him sleep? But for me, where I was at in my motherhood journey the idea of 1:1 help over two weeks sounded incredible. I knew as a mum I wanted and needed to thrive again, I wanted my little man to be well rested and happier (he had become so grumpy).

Reaching out for sleep support was the best thing I ever did. It changed my husband and I’s lives and even led me to a career change - wild right?!
